MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! Enjoy the time off and come back rested and relaxed.....

The last week before Christmas. Amazing how quickly it has gone by. I won't take up a page and a half this week but will sum up the important points.
As relaxed a week as I can make it with lots of Christmas activities, a couple of movies and a Roast Beast Feast on Friday. No need for the kids to bring a lunch on Friday as we will have a luncheon. Please do not send any food as it is being taken care of. I am trying hard to avoid the usual sugary treats (cakes, cookies, candies etc). Just send them with a recess snack and a water bottle or juice box or two. The main course will be hot dogs so if your child does not eat hot dogs, you may have to send a back up. Again, please do not send any cookies/cupcakes/candies etc. I am providing a small treat for them and a couple of parents have offered to do the rest. It's all done (and a great big thank you to those parents......I really appreciate you)..... Our stress level has gone down now that the Christmas performance is over (whew). Thanks to everyone who came and supported us. I was surprised to see how packed it was! I appreciated the feedback that you gave me too, always good to hear what you have to say. Speaking of which.....I do not want any parent to feel as though I am not communicating with you. Please oh please if you feel as though you are not aware of your child's progress, or if you want at any time to reach me, I am but an e-mail away. (see the address at the bottom) I will always make time for parents...... Let's take a look at this week: Monday, December 12 - bring in SS gifts (Science Test for Mrs. Erichuk's class) Tuesday, December 13 - bring in SS gifts Wednesday, December 14 - SS exchange (Science Test for our class) Thursday, December 15 - P.E. (last day for volleyball) Friday, December 16 - Math test for both math groups (it's on addition/subtraction w regrouping), Roast Beast Feast at lunch As always, you can reach me anytime at [email protected]....... HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!! SEE YOU IN 2012! Well this is it. Performance week. And only 18 shopping days left as of Tuesday..... I am not ready. In case your child did not tell you, Secret Santa is a go. And thank you very much to all the parents who responded. We pulled the names on Friday, Dec. 2 (for the few kids who were away, I have the info) and we will do Secret Santa on Wednesday, Dec. 14th. Remember the preferred limit is $10. It is not meant to be a hardship for anyone. Gifts can come in anytime, I will keep track and put them under our small (well okay pitiful) tree.
By Tuesday you should have all heard from me once or twice by e-mail (except for a few of you that have come in or I wrote a note). If you haven't heard from me, please check to make sure that I haven't ended up in your 'junk'. For every year but for this year especially, I want to make sure that I am communicating on a regular basis and no one feels like they don't know their child's progress. If you would like to meet with me, just say the word. Otherwise, you can always reach me at [email protected] I will always make time for parents. Our Christmas performance is this Friday between recess and lunch (I know I've been saying this for 3 weeks now but maybe not everyone has heard yet). We should be ready to go by 10:45 and done by about 11:00. We haven't actually had a practice on the stage yet as it is just set up now so I'll update if it will take longer. We have discussed 'costumes' with the kids (nothing fancy) but the general rule of thumb is black pants (or dark if they don't have black) then the colour of the shirt changes depending on what they are. Dancers aim for a brown shirt (they are reindeer), St Nick's -red, Elves-red or green, Mr or Mrs. Darling - pajamas, slippers, housecoat. The kids know who they are. They may very well be a character AND a dancer. There are a few and they know what to bring. If kids don't have those colours, it won't matter. We'll find something. These last two weeks are about gearing up for the Christmas break so lots of relaxed, fun Christmas activities. But, since I do have a Grinchy side......., there is a Science test on the last week. The kids have the notes for it, it is just a matter of studying. It is on electricity. We also have a small math quiz for my Math class in that last week. It is on addition and subtraction with regrouping. Other then that, I will endeavour to keep things a little bit lighter as the excitement level grows and grows. Let's take a look at this week: Monday, December 5 - NO SCHOOL FOR KIDS Tuesday, December 6 - Xmas practice 10:30 Wednesday, December 7 - Xmas practice 8:45 AND 10:30 Thursday, December 8 - Xmas practice 10:30 Friday, December 9 - library, PERFORMANCE DAY!!! Please oh please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if you ever have any questions, concerns or comments....... |
