Our student teachers begin this Friday. Day one they just observe. They are with the students for two weeks and will be responsible for Science (in my room) and some math. They are also required to teach one full morning and one full afternoon somewhere in those two weeks.
We are doing a 'shoe drive' at Parkcrest. Please send any unneeded or unwanted shoes (in good shape) to the school. There is a donation bin located by the office. All shoes will make their way to Nicaraguan children. We appreciate any donations.
Just a note that coming up on April 15th there is a professional development day. No school for kids but school for the teachers.
We are beginning a unit on nutrition in HACE. If you notice your child starting to read more labels on their food.....good! The main message is 'everything in moderation'. In L.A. we are finishing our novel study before moving on to the last one this year (amazing), we are also working on the process of writing. In Math, this is the last week before we switch. What this means is that if your child is with me this week, they will be with Mrs. Erichuk starting next week and for the rest of the year. We are working on "measurement". Right now it is perimeter and area. Starting next week we will expand into volume and capacity. For Science we are studying the human body.
