Only 2 months left to go now and the days seem to fly by......
Thanks so much for those parents who helped us by bringing Marsville projects to and from the Henry Grube Centre on Friday. It was an unusual and exciting ending to a long project. This week has Track and Field still in the afternoons so our schedule is still out of whack. By next week we will be much closer to getting back to routine. For Science we are taking a step back, reviewing basic cell knowledge and the microscope parts before doing some experiments using the microscopes. In Math, Group 2 (my group) is having a quiz on Thursday on the geometry concepts that we have covered for the last few weeks. Group 1 (Mrs. Erichuk's) has a quiz on Wednesday. In L.A., we have started our novel (Maniac Magee) and are now looking at making it to chapter 9 or 10 by the end of this week. This novel has many chapters but they are short, with lots of small activities to accompany them. In HACE we have had to stop for a couple of weeks (due to Marsville) and we are now back into our short first aid unit. This week we learn about the 'recovery position'. For Social Studies, the students are wrapping up their units on Japan (again this has been put on hold for a week or two as we had to get our Marsville projects done). For French the students have been learning how to conjugate the verbs 'avoir' and 'etre'. They have a quiz this Thursday. Thank you very much for getting your swimming money and permission slips in. I know what a pain it has been with all the slips going home and the requests for money so hopefully that is it for a while! Congratulations to Dylan and Tyler for their Young Artist projects. They missed Marsville on Friday to participate in a one day workshop where they got to explore different artistic mediums. International Day is coming up at the end of next week. For those of you that haven't participated, or aren't sure what it is, we celebrate different cultures through food (yummy!). Last year it was a feast! I am telling you now so that you have time to plan. It does NOT have to be your own family culture, any international food will do. I am bringing Irish Soda Bread (okay so that is my family history......). Let's take a look at this week Monday, May 2 - Track and Field in the afternoon Tuesday, May 3 - YPC Wednesday, May 4 - Math quiz for group 1, McGowan Parloff (leaving the school at 11:20) Track and Field in the afternoon Thursday, May 5 - Math quiz (group 2), French test Friday, May 6 - Last Track and Field rotation As always, you can reach me at [email protected] Upcoming events: May 11 - Intermediate (and grade 3) track meet all day May 13 - International Day May 19 - Class and School Photos, So You Think You're Fast track meet at Hillside (register up there, not through the school) May 20 - Professional Development day (no school for kids) May 23 - Victoria Day Holiday May 25 - Zone 1500s (at Parkcrest) May 26 - Parent Appreciation Tea in the afternoon May 27 - Zone Track meet (at Hillside) May 30 - Swimming Lessons start (1:30-2:00) May 31 - District 1500s (at Hillside), Swimming Lesson (1:30-2:00)

The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.
