In L.A. we are busily working our way through our novel study (Maniac Magee). In Writing we are carrying on with Write Traits (a program designed to point out various characteristics of 'good' writing). We will be working with poetry very soon. For Math, we are studying motion geometry and will be finishing the year with probability. In Science, we have been working with the microscopes and now will be doing some microscope work and some pencil and paper tasks on classification. For HACE we have been doing a first aid unit (we have covered emergency scene management, the recovery position, and now we are looking at 'shock' and what to do for it) before moving on to a unit on puberty and growth/development.
This week is the zone track meet (which takes place on Friday up at Hillside Stadium for all events except the 1500 m. That takes place at Parkcrest on Wednesday, May 25). I have had a few questions about what to do if you have 2 events scheduled at the same time (which happens to most athletes). The answer is that you check in at your field event (shot put, long jump, high jump, or triple jump) then you go to your running event when the marshalling call comes (letting your field event person know), and then you go back to your field event once your running event is done. Please make sure you have turned in your permission slip to the office asap. For those students who are not going to the zones, you will be placed into either Mr. Higo's or Dr. Anselmo's class for the day. Mrs. Erichuk and myself will be working the ribbon table up at the track meet that day and Mr. Weddell will be in charge of all the athletes.
Let's take a look at this week:

Tuesday, May 24 - P.E.
Wednesday, May 25 - Zone 1500s, Science quiz on the microscope
