In Math, my group is starting to work with place value this week. Remember that I am currently working with the students who may not have as much math confidence. The group is comprised of students from both of the grade 5/6s. In L.A. we have been working our way through the novel Moses, Me and Murder. One area of focus has been learning how to answer questions in a complete sentence (having the answer contain part of the question so that the reader could understand exactly what the question was without actually seeing it). In HACE, we continue to work on decision making since we have had a couple of interruptions during HACE class time. For P.E. we are about halfway through learning the dance steps to the song Thriller (the goal is to learn it by Halloween). In Science we are learning to extract and use natural resources (they are learning what are natural resources in Social Studies) so this week we will be recreating gold panning (mining for gold wasn't an option so we are going 'old school'). This week in the computer lab I am introducing a program called 'Kerpoof'. Ask your child about it after Tuesday.
Let's take a look at this week:
Monday, Oct. 10 -THANKSGIVING....NO SCHOOL
Tuesday, Oct. 11 - P.E. day
Wednesday, Oct. 12-
Thursday, Oct. 13. - P.E. day

As always, you can reach me anytime at [email protected]
Just a heads up that there is a Halloween dance coming up for the intermediate students on Oct. 28 in the afternoon.
