I wanted to give all of you a heads up. The early closure days in October are on the 6th and 7th. Normally this would be the time that the parent teacher interview schedule would be drawn up by the administrator. Due to this unusual year with job action, there will not be a formal schedule for those early closures and teachers will be available to meet in the afternoon from 1:00 until 2:30. It will be on a first come, first served basis. In order to avoid a crush, I am happy to meet with you by phone, early in the morning, at lunch or right after school on a different day. Just drop me an e-mail ([email protected]) and we'll work something out.
In math this week we will be looking at 'mental math' strategies for multiplication as well as beginning to look at divisibility rules. Please note I sent home a math sheet for studying times/division tables that I'd like the kids to review on a regular basis if possible. In Science we are looking at 'Scientific Method'. They have learned how to fill out a lab sheet and we will do a couple of simple labs so they get the idea of how the steps work before moving on to 'Natural Resources'. In HACE we will begin with decision making and the influences that help or hurt in that process. In L.A. we will read our first chapter in our novel and do some questions (I have already completed an exercise on how to answer questions completely so hopefully this translates). We also have our first unit in spelling city (an online spelling program that they can practice at home). I have separate lists for the grade 5s and 6s posted. They have now all received their username and password and should have written them down in their agendas.
Again this seems to be a long one so I'll wrap it up there.....
Let's take a look at this week:

Let's have a great week!
